Celebrating 2024: A Year of Impact and Growth

Summer Blast Off: Aviation & STEM Education

On June 15, 2024, we kicked off the summer with an exciting hands-on STEM session, teaching aviation principles in a fun and interactive way. Youth participants assembled paper planes and tested their designs for flight height, distance, and duration. Engineer Lena Williams facilitated the session, made possible by the CFVI Youth Enrichment Grant. This event inspired curiosity and showcased the value of STEM education for our community’s teens.

SHE SOARS & Scholarship Success

The SHE SOARS event on June 30, 2024, was one of our most successful yet, culminating in scholarships awarded to five graduating seniors on July 20, 2024. Thanks to the St. Thomas/St. John community’s incredible support, these scholarships will help our students pursue their dreams. Your contributions make these life-changing opportunities possible.

Raising Awareness & Empowering Minds

In October, Y-TEENS VI Inc. hosted a powerful awareness session led by the Family Resource Center, marking International Day of the Girl, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and National Mental Health Awareness Month. This session empowered teens with knowledge and tools to face critical issues, fostering a stronger and more informed community.

Fundraising for the Future: Cake Sale Success

On November 9, 2024, our members came together to give back, participating in a cake sale to raise funds for Y-TEENS VI Inc. Their enthusiasm and dedication reflect the positive impact this organization has on their lives and the community.

Natural Hair Care Session

On November 9, 2024, teens enjoyed an engaging and educational session with natural hair technician Mrs. Sharin (Shay) Jennings. Participants learned valuable tips for caring for their natural hair, promoting confidence and self-care.

Bringing Holiday Joy to Local Children

On December 10, 2024, Y-TEENS VI Inc. partnered with the USVI Department of Tourism, FCCA, and Norwegian Cruise Line to bring joy to 200 elementary school children. Santa and his helpers arrived aboard a Norwegian Cruise Line ship, delighting the children with gifts generously donated by Diamonds International of St. Thomas. The event created lasting memories and highlighted the spirit of giving.

Soft Launch of Coding and Graphic Design Program

On December 12, 2024, Y-TEENS VI Inc. celebrated the soft launch of its newest afterschool program in honor of National Computer Science Educators Week. Teens participated in Hour of Code sessions during an Open House, introducing them to coding and graphic design. These sessions, which run until December 17, 2024, offer a sneak peek into the program's official launch in January 2025. This initiative, funded by the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands, Liberty Foundation, and Alpine Securities USVI, expands our services to youth in the St. Thomas/St. John district.
